Singer and actress Selena Gomez has entered a treatment facility after two hospitalizations following her kidney transplant.

People reported that the 26-year-old singer had a panic attack during her second hospitalization. Each time, she was hospitalized for a low white blood cell count, which can be a side effect for kidney transplants.

"She has had a tough few weeks and the panic attack in the hospital was the tipping point," an unnamed source told People.

E! News reported that Gomez's treatment is helping her address ongoing anxiety and depression issues.

Gomez revealed in an Instagram Live in September that she had battled depression for five years.

"I think before I turned 26, there was like this weird time in my life (where), I think, I was kind of on autopilot for about five years," she said while holding back tears, E! News reported. "Kinda just going through the motions and figuring out who I am and just doing the best I could and then slowly but surely doing that."

According to an unnamed source, People reported that Gomez is undergoing dialectical behavior therapy, which uses mindfulness, emotion regulation and increases tolerance of negative emotion to help manage negative thinking and behavior.

"She realized she needed to seek additional help for her ongoing emotional issues," the source told People. "She's surrounded by close family and has a lot of support. She's doing better now and is seeking treatment on the East Coast."

After her Instagram Live, Gomez announced she was going on a social media break.

“As much as I am grateful for the voice that social media gives each of us, I am equally grateful to be able to step back and live my life present to the moment I have been given. Kindness and encouragement only for a bit!”
