More storms and thunderstorms are possible this weekend, which may put a damper on road crews’ construction plans but won’t stop college cap and gown ceremonies.
The weather will be warm and muggy Saturday and Sunday with scattered showers and thunderstorms, according to Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brad Nitz. The highs will be in the upper 80s both days and the lows in the mid to upper 60s.
Road construction and traffic
Weather permitting, two lanes will be blocked due to construction on both I-75 northbound and southbound in Clayton County between Mount Zion Road and Highway 19/41. The lanes will be blocked until 5 a.m. Monday. The state Department of Transportation suggests using I-675 as an alternate route.
NASCAR will be racing at Talladega Superspeedway all weekend in Alabama, so expect extra traffic on I-20 near the Georgia-Alabama line, especially Sunday morning and Sunday evening.
