TMZ reported that Whitaker filed the documents Thursday in Los Angeles. The petition cites irreconcilable differences. The Blast reported that Whitaker, 57, did not want to pay spousal support and wants both sides to pay for their own legal fees, according to The Blast.

It’s not clear what caused the split.

People reported that Whitaker and Nash, 46, married in 1996 and have two adult daughters together: Sonnet Noel, 22, and True, 20. Whitaker is father to a son named Ocean, 28, from a previous relationship. Nash has a 27-year-old daughter named Autumn.

A representative for Whitaker has not commented on the reports.
