THE LIFE AND DEATH OF KING JOHN, AT THE NEW AMERICAN SHAKESPEARE TAVERN
This venerable theater-slash-drinking establishment describes the tale of King John this way: “It is a story of murder, betrayal, and religious intolerance at the highest levels of government. It is a story that questions the reason for and the price of war. In other words, it is a story for our time.”

FOOD, OUR GLOBAL KITCHEN, AT THE FERNBANK MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY
This exhibit, which opened June 9, will continue through Aug. 19. It features a recreated 16th century Aztec marketplace, signature dishes from around the world and smelling stations to demonstrate the aromas of the herbs and spices that make the world’s cuisines dinstinctive.
