Police said a man stole umbrellas from a Dollar General in Ohio Friday before he was hit by a car.
The incident happened shortly before 5 p.m. during the afternoon rush hour, WHIO reported.
“As he was fleeing from the workers inside the store, he tried to cross Wayne Avenue, which obviously this time of day is very busy. He darted into the roadway and was clipped. The vehicle did knock him off balance, and he did get some road rash-type injuries to his knees and the palms of his hands. He is a known violator of the store," Dayton police Lt. Matt Beavers said.
Dollar General recovered its merchandise, WHIO reported.
Joshua Jamar Cooper, 31, was arrested at Dollar General and booked around 6 p.m. into the Montgomery County Jail on suspicion of misdemeanor theft, jail records show.
