A Gainesville woman died Wednesday night when her motorcycle collided with a car in Hall County, the Georgia State Patrol said.

Anita C. Strickland, 59, was traveling westbound on Ga. 347 on a Kawasaki when the wreck happened, the GSP said in an email to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. A Mercedes-Benz driven by Gary Lee Herndon, 79, of Buford, was northbound on B.U. Bowman Drive.

Herndon failed to yield when he entered the road, according to the GSP.

The motorcycle hit the driver’s side of the Mercedes, the GSP said. Strickland was pronounced dead at the scene.

Herndon, who was not injured, will be charged with second-degree vehicular homicide and failure to yield, both misdemeanors, the GSP said.
