Tyson Foods, one of the world’s biggest food companies, plans to expand an existing chicken processing plant in South Georgia and create 500 new jobs, the state and company announced Tuesday.

Springdale, Ark.-based Tyson plans a $110 million investment to expand its facility in Vienna, about 130 miles south of downtown Atlanta, according to a news release from Gov. Nathan Deal’s office.

The plant, which has provided chicken to restaurants and other food services businesses, will convert its operations to provide fresh chicken for retailers, the release stated.
