Reality TV show for Georgia Distilling?
Could the Georgia Distilling Co. of Jackson, Ga. soon have its own reality TV show? Bill Mauldin, one of the company's co-founders, tells the AJC that two California production companies have delivered contracts to develop shows for an unnamed cable network.
"They are interested in our operations because of our location here in the Deep South, our characters who are part of our community, and the uniqueness and mystery that our industry holds to TV viewers," Mauldin said in an e-mail.
Mauldin said a TV show could enable Georgia Distilling -- which has yet to make an ounce of liquor -- to hit the entire U.S. market quickly. "This national exposure would guarantee us a brand awareness that would very easily result in much higher sales than currently anticipated, as well as lucrative opportunities for marketing items such as shirts, hats, and other items which can be purchased anywhere," Mauldin said. He vowed that a TV contact would not hurt the quality of the company's products.
