Eleven people pleaded guilty to health care insurance fraud against Aflac, the U.S. Attorney’s office said.

They are convicted of  filing fraudulent claims against their supplemental insurance policies with the Columbus-based health insurer, according to the U.S. Attorney’s office.

As a result, Aflac lost more than $500,000, according to U.S. Attorney Michael Moore.

Each person entered a guilty plea in U.S. District Court on Tuesday.

According to information from the U.S. Attorney’s office, each person filed false claims ranging from $243.75 to $67,105.

Each person faces up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine when sentenced later.

The convicted are: Benita Denys Cash; Stephanie S. Ervin; Candace Garcia; Maurice D. Hinkle; Quandra Renee Jones; Danielle Mahone; Jarvis Sinclair ; Castoreo J. Milsap; Adraine Moore; Jesus De La Torre; Shawnea De La Torre.
