Atlanta-based Orkin is expanding its pest control reach in the Middle East and the Caribbean.

Orkin, a Rollins Inc. company, said it is establishing franchises in Erbil, Iraq, and in Trinidad and Tobago. Aside from the U.S., the company also has operations in Canada, Mexico, Europe, Central America, Asia, the Mediterranean and Africa.

The newest franchises will offer commercial and residential pest control and termite control services, the company said.

Orkin has nearly 8,000 workers at more than 400 locations around the world. The company announced earlier this month that it plans to hire 1,000 military veterans over the next five years as part of a White House initiative to promote the hiring of vets.
