Hartsfield-Jackson expects busy holiday weekend

June 30, 2011

Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport expects more than 2 million passengers to use the airport for the busy Fourth of July holiday period.

Hartsfield-Jackson, the world's busiest airport, said the Fourth of July period is the busiest travel week of the year.

From June 30 through July 6, the airport expects passenger counts to be up nearly 2 percent from the comparable period last year. That's in line with passenger growth at the airport for the year to date.

Separately, Hartsfield-Jackson said Thursday it won the Global Airport Efficiency Excellence Award from the Air Transport Research Society, the ninth consecutive year it has been recognized by the group for its efficiency.
