Delta Air Lines is buying 20 new Bombardier CRJ900 regional jets, to replace older regional jets flown by Delta Connection carriers.

Atlanta-based Delta's planes will be the first CRJs to have Bombardier's new "Atmosphere" cabin with more space for carry-ons, a larger lavatory and better aesthetics. Delta expects to take delivery of the 70-seat planes starting in late 2018.

The regional jets will be flown on small market routes to and from domestic hubs.
