Gov. Nathan Deal has set aside $15 million for the Georgia World Congress Center Authority in his proposed 2012 budget. The agency plans to use the money to purchase the old Herndon Homes property on Northside Drive from the Atlanta Housing Authority. Mark Geiger, authority spokesman, said the property, which is adjacent to the GWCC's marshalling yard, could have several uses, including as a new space for trucks to park during conventions, as a GWCC parking lot or as parking for a potential new stadium for the Atlanta Falcons.
