Chick-fil-A celebrates Cow Appreciation Day

An annual Chick-fil-A promotion gives customers a free combo meal for coming to a store fully dressed as a cow. Partial cow attire, such as a tie or shirt, earns a free entree.

Truett Cathy visits the Cumberland Mall Chick-fil-A on Friday. Costumes are nothing new for Truett Cathy. He used to his children Dan and Bubba in dwarf costumes to promote the Dwarf House, the predecessor to Chick-fil-A.

Dan Cathy gets help with his cow makeup. His father has built a light-hearted element into the company culture, he said. "He taught us: Don't take yourself too seriously," Dan Cathy said. "Learn to have fun. Be approachable."
