Chick-fil-A breaks ground in Hollywood

Dec 18, 2010Paparazzi alert: Chick-fil-A broke ground this week on its first location in Hollywood, California. To mark the occasion, a cow mascot bulldozed a former burger joint.
Atlanta-based Chick-fil-A aims to steadily add between 75 and 80 restaurants per year. It says it will end 2010 with 81 new eateries across the country, including in Wheaton, Ill., Logan, Utah and LaGrange, Ga. It now has more than 1,535 restaurants in 39 states and Washington D.C.
In 2009, Chick-fil-A's sales hit a record $3.2 billion – an 8.6 percent overall increase and a 2.5 percent gain at stores open at least a year. The chain's sales have grown for 42 consecutive years.
