With all the violence in Dallas, Minneapolis and Baton Rouge last week, local syndicated morning host Rickey Smiley is planning to moderate a town hall Tuesday evening in Decatur.
Called "A Real Strategy for Change," Smiley recruited several local prominent figures to discuss what has been happening lately and what can be done to improve relations between cops and the citizenry. The event, held at House of Hope church in Decatur, is free to the public.
Confirmed guests include ET from Durtty Boyz , attorney Gerald Griggs , rapper and activist David Banner , former cop Cariol Horne, DC Young Fly , R&B singer Lyfe Jennings, rappers Young Jeezy and 2 Chainz, civil rights legend C.T. Vivian and a representative from Black Lives Matter.
UPDATE: Coverage from the event on Channel 2 Action News below where Jennings and Banner disagreed over treatment of police and had to be separated, then later shook hands.
Smiley is heard on 60-plus radio stations nationwide and works out of the Hot 107.9 studios in downtown Atlanta. He is also the star of TV One's reality show "Rickey Smiley For Real" and shows up occasionally on "Dish Nation" as well.
