Temperatures continued to drop after daybreak, and are now below freezing throughout metro Atlanta.

Readings at 8 a.m. ranged from 25 in Dunwoody and Cartersville, 26 in Alpharetta and Dallas and 27 in Marietta and Chamblee to 30 at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport and 31 in Peachtree City.

In the mountains, Blue Ridge reported 20 degrees, and it was 22 in Blairsville.

Winds gusting up to 18 mph were a double-edged sword Tuesday morning, helping to dry the roadways but also causing more ice-laden trees to topple.
