Where there is fire, there is smoke. And there was a lot of it Sunday morning in Milton.

Milton Fire-Rescue was fighting a large rubbish fire at the Chadwick Road Landfill in western Milton along state Route 140, near the Cherokee County border.

Because the impacted area was over an acre in size, the fire was producing large amounts of smoke.

Fire officials estimated early Sunday that because of the size and depth of the fire, it could take several hours to extinguish.

The address of the fire is 13700 Chadwick Farms Boulevard in Milton. People with respiratory sensitivity were asked remain indoors or avoid the area.
