Twin Rivers Middle School students will spend the rest of Wednesday at the neighboring high school due to a blown transformer, a spokeswoman for Gwinnett County schools said.

The Buford middle school was evacuated to Mountain View High School, where the younger students had lunch, spokeswoman Sloan Roach said Wednesday afternoon. Because there is no power at Twin Rivers, school leaders decided to keep the middle school students at the high school, Roach said.

The middle school buses will run their regular routes at their usual time, Roach said. Parents wanting to pick up their middle school students early were directed to the ticket booth at the high school stadium.
