Alpharetta Department of Public Safety spokesman George Gordon emailed this statement:

The Alpharetta Department of Public Safety is advising motorists to use caution in the City of Alpharetta for the roadway areas of Rucker Road, Mid Broadwell Road, Milton Avenue and generally roadways on the west side of the city. Slight icing has started to occur. Alpharetta public works personnel are working to treat the impacted areas. Please use caution when driving, slow down, keep distance between vehicles and be alert for roadway work crews.

A wintry mix of sleet, rain and snow began falling across the northern suburbs around 4 a.m. Tuesday, while snow was reported across the mountain counties. Drivers are urged to check current traffic conditions  before leaving home. Read the full story and forecast.
