I-285 plane crash: FAA en route to scene

Kathleen Bergen with the FAA released this statement:

Preliminary information is that four persons were on board.

A Piper PA-32 aircraft crashed on I-285 after departing from Runway 3Right DeKalb-Peachtree Airport.  We have not confirmed the number of persons on board yet.  We will release the aircraft registration/N-number/tail number after local authorities release the names and conditions of all persons on board.  Please call DeKalb County public safety agencies for information about the scene.

The FAA is en route to the scene.  The National Transportation Safety Board is in charge of the investigation and will determine probable cause.

We will get back to you as soon as we have more information.
