Last year's TomorrowWorld arrived with clouds of dirt-dust so thick, you had to affix a bandanna around your mouth just to breathe.

The 2015 edition decided to bring different types of clouds before Friday's official kickoff of the EDM festival in Chattahoochee Hills , and the ensuing rain left thousands of acres of the festival grounds a squishy, mucky mess.

Not that the tens of thousands of people who traversed among TW's nine stages seemed to mind Friday evening.

The largest gathering assembled in front of the always-magical Main Stage, this year complementing the festival's "Key To Happiness" theme with a design including a talking mechanical face, a water wheel, grinding gears, plumes of fire, tiny bubbles and a red and white pinwheel.

Nope. No clue what any of it means. But it looks amazing.

In the pink Full On tent, Andrew Bayer cranked dance remixes while a cluster of energized fans spun around waving identifying flags from Chicago, California and...uh...Heineken.

Across the bridge, coated with slippery grime, Ummet Ozcan pumped a remix of Swedish House Mafia's "Don't You Worry Child" while back at the Main Stage, an actual former member of the group, Steve Angello, who said he was just back from Sweden, eased into his set with a snippet of Robin S.'s "Show Me Love." Then the bass dropped, smoke poured from the ledge of the stage and the pogoing began.

TomorrowWorld continues through Sunday night with a lineup of more than 300 DJs , including top names David Guetta, Afrojack, Hardwell, Martin Garrix and The Chainsmokers.

Check out our gallery below of some of the sights Friday night.

If you're heading out the rest of the weekend, you likely won't encounter the 90-minute crawl I endured getting to the festival entrance since many attendees camp out and are already situated. Then again...who knows with unpredictable weather and tens of thousands of fans holding single-day tickets.

If you are attending, here's our guide to help you navigate . Check the TomorrowWorld.com website for the status of single-day tickets.
