Whether you're looking for an evening of trippy jam music or one that includes singing along to "Steal Away," surely there will be a swaying rendition of "Auld Lang Syne" no matter where you wind up on New Year's Eve in Atlanta.
Most of Atlanta’s music venues will be stocked with live performances. Here are a few to consider.
All shows are on New Year’s Eve unless otherwise noted (a few have multiple dates leading up to the celebratory night).
The Disco Biscuits. The ace jam band with the incredible visual show paid a few visits to Atlanta already this year with festival sets at SweetWater 420 and Imagine Music Festival. Now they'll seize the stage at the Tabernacle for a trio of shows leading up to a New Year's Eve celebration. 8 p.m. Dec. 29-31. $37.50-$65 for single show tickets; $140 for a three-night pass. Michelle Malone. Her gritty blues rock and wicked slide guitar playing will facilitate a New Year's rockin' eve that has nothing to do with Ryan Seacrest. The local legend recently shared a bill with Gregg Allman and ZZ Top for Allman's Laid Back Festival date in Atlanta and released her excellent 18th album, "Stronger Than You Think," in 2015. 7:30 p.m.; 10 p.m. with Hannah Thomas. $30-$50. Indigo Girls. Spending the evening with Emily Saliers and Amy Ray will assure a party stocked with mellifluous harmonies and, when Ray gets cranking on her electric guitar, singalong choruses. The treasured Atlanta duo last year dropped its 14th studio album, "One Lost Day." 8 p.m. (sold out, but a wait list is available). $60-$75. "Dancing With the Stars." With its early start time, this is the show to catch if you want to have an evening with multiple party stops. The cast is always subject to change, but is expected to include this year's "DWTS" winner Laurie Hernandez, as well as Lindsay Arnold, Artem Chigvintsev, Sharna Burgess, Val Chmerkovskiy, Emma Slater, Jenna Johnson, Gleb Savchenko, Keo Motsepe, Alan Bersten and Hayley Erbert. 7 p.m. $56-$121.50. Yacht Rock Revue. If you're the shy type who needs some urging (and champagne) to sing along at a show, this is your perfect combination. The all-inclusive ticket offers an open bar and food, while the music is irresistibly catchy. JJ Grey & Mofro: Since the early 2000s, the Jacksonville jam band — or, rather, Southern rock-funk-jazz band — has kept fans happily bopping in the crowd with upbeat tunes such as "Florabama" and intrigued with a soulful stomper such as "The Sun Is Shining Down," which made a cameo in "House of Cards." 8 p.m. Dec. 30 ($31-$36); 9 p.m. Dec. 31 ($46-$56). The Motet. The Colorado-based funk-rock-jazz septet is regarded for its dynamic live shows, which seems like a good quality for a band performing on New Year's Eve. Earlier this year, they released their seventh studio album, "Totem," which was produced by Soulive guitarist Eric Krasno. The band is also showcasing singer Lyle Divinsky, who joined in early 2016.
