It's bad. This we know. But, to borrow from Johnny Carson, how ... bad ... is ... it? This bad.
1. If you threw out the season-opening nine-game losing streak, the Atlanta Braves would still be under .500.
2. The Braves are 4-14. That's a winning percentage of .222. They're on pace to finish 36-126. The modern record for losses in a season is 120 by the 1962 Mets, who were an expansion team. If you count their 6-20-6 Grapefruit League record, the 2016 Braves have won 10 of 50 games.
3. The Braves have hit three home runs as a team. They're on pace to hit 27. The former Brave Evan Gattis hit 27 homers last season. That enabled him to finish in a six-way tie for 25th-best among MLB players.
4. The Braves' best hitter is -- or used to be -- Freddie Freeman. His OPS (on-base percentage plus slugging percentage) is .569, ranking him 175th among the 196 players with enough qualifying plate appearances. If we use FanGraphs' wRC+ (weighted Runs Created plus), Freeman ranks 177th.
5. The hitter, so to speak, who ranks 196th in both OPS and wRC+ is Erick Aybar. He's also a Brave.
6. The Braves have a team slugging percentage of .289. That's the worst in baseball. If they had a slugging percentage of .321, they'd still be the worst.
7. The Braves have worked five quality starts. Only one team has worked fewer.
8. The Braves have blown five saves. No team has blown more.
9. Only two years ago, the Braves finished a 162-game season with 110 quality starts (most in the majors) and 13 blown saves (fourth-fewest).
10. With three weeks gone, the Braves are 10 games out of first place. No other team has dug itself a double-digit hole. According to FanGraphs, the Braves have a 0.0 percent chance of making the playoffs .
Oh, and a cheery one! Dansby Swanson is hitting .324 with an OPS of .900 for the Carolina Mudcats. He cannot get here too soon.
