The Westlake-Roswell playoff football game, originally slated for Westlake Stadium, will be played instead at the neutral Lakewood Stadium south of downtown Atlanta because neither Fulton County school can meet the GHSA’s minimum requirements for seats.

This is the second game venue that has been moved on Tuesday. Earlier, Jefferson had to give up its home field and play at Thomson for their AAAA semifinal.

While Thomson meets the GHSA’s standard of 4,000 seats for a AAAA game, neither Westlake nor Roswell meet the 6,000 requirement for AAAAAAA.

The requirements have been in place  for this playoff round since the semifinals moved out of the Georgia Dome and back to high school fields in 2008. They existed for other rounds prior to that.

Lakewood Stadium, which seats about 10,000, is a home field for Atlanta Public Schools. It is about 30 miles from Roswell and 15 from Westlake.

The game will begin at 7:30 p.m.
