There is a new No. 1 in the boys Class 6A-7A poll as Lambert jumps Lassiter for the top spot. Lassiter defeated No. 10 Milton 10-2 to open its season and faces Blessed Trinity on Friday. Lambert has already played four games this year, but the Longhorns have been impressive enough in those four games to claim the top spot. Lambert has outscored North Forsyth (18-0), Alpharetta (18-1), Blessed Trinity (14-5) and Mill Creek (16-2) by a combined 66-8. The rest of the top five remains the same as last week, but it is worth noting that No. 5 Walton is 5-0 for the first time since the program’s championship run in 2011. Grayson defeated Milton 6-1 on Tuesday to improve to 4-0 and comes in at No. 6 ahead of 4-1 Pope, which fell to Milton in overtime earlier this month. No. 8 Peachtree Ridge beat Parkview 13-6 on Tuesday and Cambridge and Milton round out the top 10.

Lovett remains the top team in Class A-5A and has defeated a trio of ranked opponents (Wesleyan, Marist, Cambridge) to start the season 3-0. The standings did not move since last week, but No. 6 Starr’s Mill and No. 10 Woodward Academy square off Wednesday night in a game that could certainly reshape the polls.
