Marquis Westbrook was approved Wednesday morning as Warner Robins’ football coach by the Houston County school board.

Westbrook, the Demons’ defensive coordinator the past three seasons, will replace Mike Chastain, who was hired as head coach at Jones County last week.

Westbrook, a native of Cordele, previously worked at Veterans (2010-15) and Macon County (2008-09). He is a former college cornerback who played on Florida’s 2000 SEC championship team and in the 2000 Citrus Bowl, 2001 Sugar Bowl and 2002 Orange Bowl. While at Crisp County High in Georgia, Westbrook was a quarterback and two-way starter.

Warner Robins reached the Class AAAAA finals the past two seasons under Chastain.
