Milan Turner has stepped down as head football coach at Thomson, the Augusta Chronicle reported Wednesday.

Turner's record is 89-22 in nine seasons at Emanuel County Institute, where he won a state championship in 2007, and at Thomson. Thomson was 9-2 and 12-1 in Turner's first two seasons but 3-7 in 2013.

Turner told the Chronicle that he wanted to spend more time with family but expected that he would coach again.
