Etowah RB Tyray Devezin is the new state leader in rushing after a 165-yard effort last week in a 28-10 victory over Milton. Devezin has rushed for 848 yards and eight touchdowns on 93 carries. He's 240 yards ahead of the next-closest rusher in Class AAAAAAA, Forsyth Central's Sabrian Howard.
Devezin's lead overall will be short-lived as he is off this week, when the state is likely to see its first 1,000-yard rusher. Keyshawn Morgan of Toombs County is the closest to 1,000 among those in action. He needs 156 yards at Bacon County tonight.
In passing, Jake Fromm of Houston County continues to run away from the field. He's on pace for 4,472 yards in 10 games. The state record is 4,560. Three Houston County players are in the top 25 in receiving yards.
