Twenty-one Georgia high school football players are on rosters for the two most prominent national all-star games this week — the Under Armour All-America Game in Orlando and the All-American Bowl in San Antonio.
The Under Armour games is first up on Thursday at 6 p.m. Five Georgia players are in that one, which will be televised on ESPN2.
Lithonia offensive lineman Broderick Jones, a five-star recruit committed to Georgia but unsigned, is among the Georgia contingent there.
At 2 p.m. Saturday, 16 of the All-American Bowl’s East team roster of 54 are from Georgia. They include Gatorade national player of the year Arik Gilbert, a tight end from recently crowned Class AAAAAAA champion Marietta. Gilbert has signed with LSU.
Other players to watch are Dalton’s Jahmyr Gibbs, a Georgia Tech-committed running back who rushed for 2,554 yards this season; Valdosta’s Tate Rodemaker, a 3,000-yard passer who was a late addition to Florida State’s recruiting class and the All-American Bowl; and Hillgrove’s Myles Murphy, the consensus No. 1 recruit from Georgia.
Marietta quarterback Harrison Bailey, a Tennessee signee, was slated to play but pulled out with an injury. Rodemaker got Bailey’s spot.
