Mikell Lands-Davis, the Georgia Tech recruit who rushed for 2,374 yards in leading his team to the state quarterfinals in 2013, is the leader of what could be the year of the running back in Class AAAAA.
Also on GHSF Daily's preseason AAAAA all-state team are Joshua Bettistea of Allatoona (1,938 yards rushing in 11 games in 2013) and Chapel Hill's Jamarcus Morrissette (1,560 in eight). Morrissette missed three games because of illness or injury as a sophomore.
Class AAAAA has six of the state's top 25 recruits, according to 247Sports' Composite rankings. They are Carver's Mekhi Brown (No. 7), Lakeside's Rashad Roundtree (No. 9), Mays' Natrez Patrick (No. 11), Stephenson's Chauncey Rivers (No. 14), Mays' Dallas Warmack (No. 21) and Creekside's Jayson Stanley (No. 22). All made the preseason all-state team, which also includes four of the top 10 juniors. They are Carver's Jawon Pass (No. 5), Warner Robins' Marquez Callaway (No. 7), Stephenson's Khalil Ladler (No. 9) and Lanier's Derrick Brown (No. 10).
