Coffee, the 2017 Class AAAAAA runner-up, made the playoffs this season as a No. 4 seed but made the most of it by defeating No. 1 seed Stephenson of Region 4. That's the third time that Coffee has advanced as a No. 4 seed. The Trojans also did it in 2016, when they defeated Heritage of Conyers, and in 2008, when they also beat Stephenson. Only 13 schools have won as a No. 4 seed in the first round more than once since 1996, when the GHSA expanded the playoffs to 32-team draws.
