Vedad Kovac of Lassiter is the Gatorade Georgia boys soccer player of the year, it was announced Monday.

In a season cut short by COVID-19, Kovac totaled 17 goals and 14 assists with three hat tricks in eight games. He finished his high school career with 47 goals and 25 assists. He’s signed to play soccer at Michigan State.

Kovac played last year on Bosnia’s U19 national team, participating in four friendlies and three Euro qualifiers.

Recent Gatorade state players of the year include Omar Hernandez of Dalton (2018, 2019), Jake Donaldson of McIntosh (2017), Josh Bronstorph of Dunwoody (2016), Steven Moore of Houston County (2015) and Adam Sheikali of McIntosh (2014).
