At least three games involving Class AAAAAA teams have been impacted by the impending arrival of Hurricane Florence this weekend.

It’s possible that more may be affected, but these are the ones that had been reported as of Wednesday night:

- Valdosta’s home game against Beaufort, S.C., has been postponed and will be played on Sept. 28, when both teams had an open weekend.

- Lakeside-Evans’ game at Aiken, S.C., which previously had been rescheduled for Monday, has been canceled.

- Richmond Hill’s home game against New Hampstead of Savannah will not be played on Friday after the Savannah-Chatham County Schools canceled all athletic events for the weekend. No possible make-up date has been announced.

As of Wednesday night, the games for the Brunswick schools (Glynn Academy at Wayne County, and Brunswick at home against Camden County) will still be played.

The rest of the Class AAAAAA games will go on as scheduled, including another full weekend of region play in regions 4, 5, 6 and 7. Here are some of the top games Friday involving AAAAAA teams in Week 5.

*Creekview at Dalton: Dalton's rugged three-game stretch to open Region 6 play did not start off well, losing to fifth-ranked Sequoyah 42-14 last week. Next up are fourth-ranked Creekview and No. 3 Harrison, both of which will travel to Dalton. It's still early, but the Catamounts can't afford to fall too far behind the pack. Creekview is 4-0 (2-0 in region) after beating Osborne 46-7.

*Glynn Academy at Wayne County: Glynn Academy will face ranked teams from Region 2-AAAAA in consecutive weekends – this Friday at No. 8 Wayne County and Sept. 21 at No. 9 Ware County. The Red Terrors beat both teams last season. Glynn is undefeated against Georgia teams this year – losing to Fort Dorchester, S.C., in the opener before routing Washington and Groves.

*Lanier at Clarke Central: Lanier's season got off to a promising start with a 47-0 victory over Peachtree Ridge, but the Longhorns have since lost to Central Gwinnett 35-7 and Alpharetta 14-9. Breaking the losing streak this week won't be easy. Clarke Central is 3-1 record and is coming off a surprisingly lopsided 42-21 win over Thomson. Lanier is 2-0 all-time against the Gladiators.

*Lovejoy at Southwest DeKalb (Hallford Stadium): Lovejoy (2-1, 2-0) is alone in first place in Region 4, half a game ahead of Stephenson and Tucker (both 1-0 in league play). The Wildcats will venture outside of the region this week to face a Southwest DeKalb team that is 4-0 for the first time since 2006. Among the Panthers' victims was Stephenson, 21-14 in overtime on Aug. 24.
