DeKalb middle school games postponed; Burke County's big win

Burke County held off Thomson 26-20 on Friday in the first of two meetings between the Region 3-AAAA favorites.

Quarterback Caleeb Roberson rushed for two touchdowns in the third quarter, and Aquavious Evans and Keenan Parker also ran for touchdowns for Burke County, which improved to 5-1 on the season. The Bears’ only loss came to North Augusta, a powerhouse 5A program out of South Carolina.

Thomson (4-1) got within 26-20 early in the fourth quarter, but was unable to come up with another scoring drive and suffered its first loss of the season.

The Bulldogs will have a chance at revenge in the final week of the season, when the two teams meeting in a meaningful Region 3-AAAA game at Thomson.

DeKalb note:  All DeKalb County middle school games scheduled for this weekend have been postponed one week. The season will be extended one week to complete the scheduled games.
