Unranked Glynn Academy ended No. 1-ranked Stockbridge's dream of becoming the first Henry County school to win a state championship when the Red Terrors won 24-21 after trailing 21-7 in the Class AAAAA quarterfinals. It has happened only 10 other times since 1970 that an unranked team defeated a No. 1-ranked team in the quarterfinals. This list is notable for some of the great coaches who have been victims. They include Nick Hyder (Valdosta), Robert Davis (Warner Robins), Graham Hixon (Woodward Academy) and Dan Pitts (Mary Persons).
