On July 31, the very first day of preseason practice, Georgia Tech running back Synjyn Days (and perhaps his teammates) evidently knew what only became reality Thursday night – that the Yellow Jackets were bound for Charlotte, N.C., to play in the ACC title game.
Behold:
On that day, you may recall, Tech kicker Harrison Butker took a series of field-goal tries to excuse the team from conditioning runs. Butker made all five of his tries, including the longest from 52 yards, captured in the video. The clip spread quickly and even made ESPN's "SportsCenter."
However certifiable Days' prediction was at that point, the video does illustrate different parts of what has become the team's identity - clutch play, a clear team bond and the ability to have fun in practice while at the same time doing the necessary work.
“When you’re having fun, working hard, everybody’s working toards the same goal, everybody’s on the same page, you can achieve those things,” defensive lineman Patrick Gamble said last week prior to the Clemson game. “It feels good out there. It feels like everything’s flowing and going how it needs to be, because we know we can win.”
