Schniederjans named All-American
Georgia Tech senior Ollie Schniederjans’ final season was suitably honored Tuesday, as he was named a first-team All-American for the second year in a row. The team was voted on by the Golf Coaches Association of America.
Schniederjans won one tournament this season, was a runner-up three times and had nine top-10 finishes. He was ranked No. 10 in the country by Golfstat prior to the NCAA championship.
Schniederjans won six tournaments in his career and will leave Tech with the second-lowest scoring average in school history, 70.96. Having finished last summer as the top-ranked amateur in the world, Schniederjans will play in the U.S. Open later this month before competing in the British Open in July. He will turn professional following that event.
He is the fifth Tech player to earn first-team All-America from the GCAA, following David Duval, Matt Kuchar, Bryce Molder and Troy Matteson. All four have gone on to play on the PGA Tour, win at least once and earn at least $9 million.
