Kosic named ACC swimming scholar-athlete of the year
Andrew Kosic, one of the most decorated swimmers in Georgia Tech history, received another significant honor Tuesday, when he was named the ACC men’s swimming and diving scholar-athlete of the year.
In March, Kosic earned double All-America citations in the 50- and 100-yard freestyles. He also finished second in the 100 free, third in the 50 free and fourth in the 100 butterfly at the ACC championships. He also set six school records this season, four individually and two as a part of relays, and leaves Tech with eight school records to his name.
Kosic, from West Chester, Pa., is also a chemical engineering major scheduled to graduate Saturday. He entered his final semester with a 3.7 GPA. He is the first Tech swimmer to be named an ACC scholar-athlete of the year. He was joined on the All-ACC academic team by Noah Harasz, Yuval Safra, Nico van Duijn and Brian Woodbury. Kosic made it all four years of his career.
"Balancing academics and athletics in the ACC is difficult, especially here at Georgia Tech, and he's done it to the highest degree," coach Courtney Shealy Hart said in a statement. "He's had a remarkable career, and it's thrilling for me to see when someone's hard work pays off."
