As The Atlanta Journal-Constitution recently reported, some DeKalb County residents have waited for decades for MARTA rail to arrive in their communities. But county officials hope they'll keep an open mind about other transit options – like bus rapid transit – if they want to get more service any time soon.

Now DeKalb residents have a chance to weigh in as the county prepares a 30-year transit expansion plan. DeKalb officials will host a series of open houses to solicit public input on the plan. The events will be held from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the following dates and locations:

*Tuesday at the Lou Walker Senior Center, 2538 Panola Road, Stonecrest.

*Oct. 23 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 3773 Chamblee Tucker Road, Atlanta.

*Oct. 25 at Maloof Center, 1300 Commerce Drive, Decatur.
