Steve Harvey had the worst night but he has some of the best friends. Atlanta reality show personality Todd Chrisley, NFL player turned television host Michael Strahan, comedian/host DL Hughley and NBA great Magic Johnson were among those rushing to publicly defend him after his massive Miss Universe mixup.
"Hosting anything especially live TV is anything but easy," posted Strahan, whose on-air repertoire includes daily duty on the "Live! with Kelly and Michael" show. "Steve Harvey is still the man and made an honest mistake. It happens!"
"Steve Harvey, you still did better than me on 'Dancing With The Stars!'" Hughley posted. "Luv u man!"
Magic Johnson's series of tweets in his friend's defense were especially uplifting.
"Steve Harvey made a mistake tonight, we've all made mistakes in our careers & lives. Keep the faith and keep going strong!" he posted. "My brother Steve Harvey, you are the best entertainer on television!"
Chrisley, star of the reality show series "Chrisley Knows Best," was simply not tolerating any smack talk about Harvey.
"Steve you are a class act my friend. (Bleep) happens , just ask me..." he posted. Then he came for anyone running Harvey down.
"It's called a mistake, and as humans we all make them," he posted in response to a couple of unkind comments. "Steve Harvey is one of the greatest. "It was an unfortunate mistake anyone could have made."
"Steve is a consummate professional," he continued. " And with all that beauty any man would be distracted."
Then things got pointed.
"We know why you weren't on the stage you classless troll," he responded to one critic.
"You look like a (bleep)" he posted to another.
"You just mad cause you can't (perform a certain physical act," he posted to yet another.
The comment he shut things down with was retweeted and liked nearly 7,000 times: "FYI, all you folks talking (bleep) to me in Spanish, you're wasting your time cause I don't understand (bleep) you saying nor does Steve Harvey."
