Doug Roberson’s ratings for Atlanta United’s players from Saturday’s 2-1 loss against Dallas at Mercedes-Benz Stadium:
Goalkeeper Brad Guzan, 5: Got a foot but nothing more on the shot that led to Dallas’ first goal. ... Got down to his left to save a tough free kick in the 41st minute. ... Nothing he could do on the second goal. ... Distribution was good.
Right fullback Michael Parkhurst, 4: His second consecutive start at right back. ... Couldn’t catch up to Jesus Ferreira on the first goal. ... Put in a couple of good crosses in first 30 minutes. ... Led the team with 102 touches.
Centerback Miles Robinson, 6: Steady at the back. ... His speed broke up a few potential passes over the top.
Centerback Leandro Gonzalez Pirez, 3: On the spot to cut out a dangerous cross in the fourth minute. ... His missed tackle at midfield led to Dallas’ counterattack and first goal. ... Earned a yellow card after tripping Paxton Pomykal about 22 yards goal in the 40th minute. ... Received a warning in the 56th minute. ... Beaten by Bryan Acosta down the field for the second goal.
Left fullback Brek Shea, 5: Improved as the game went on, particularly on offense. ... Finished with two shots, one on target. ... Still needs to work on his crosses.
Defensive midfielder Jeff Larentowicz, 4: Seemed to accept responsibility for the second goal by saying he didn’t get back to cover the space vacated by Gonzalez Pirez. ...
Defensive midfielder Darlington Nagbe, 6: Calm on the ball, but that’s nothing new.
Wide midfielder Julian Gressel, 6: Lively in the first half down the right side. ... Forced a save with a free kick in the 52nd minute. ... Finished with three shots, two on goal.
Wide midfielder Hector Villalba, 5: Just missed tying the game in the 16th minute. ... Took an ill-advised shot soon after the start of the second half... Not as much influence as he had last week.
Attacking midfielder Ezequiel Barco, 8: Had a chance to take a difficult shot near the 12th minute, but passed it up. ... Nice cross to Martinez in 17th minute. ... Hit the post in the 26th minute. ... Won his fourth foul at the end of the first half and forced a save with the subsequent free kick. ... Hit the bar after winning another free kick in the 61st minute. ... Created seven chances, had five shots, two on goal, and won six fouls. It was possibly his best performance.
Striker Josef Martinez, 6: His first shot (17th minute) went over the bar. ... Missed a close shot near the end of the game. ... Scored a penalty kick in injury time in the second half.
Pity Martinez (on for Villalba, 65th), 6: Created four chances in less than 40 minutes.
