Watch the video to hear Sean Weatherspoon's update on his health, his thoughts on coach Mike Smith's emphasis on toughness, his impression of potential draft picks and which Falcons player he thinks is due for a big season.
FLOWERY BRANCH --Falcons linebacker Sean Weatherspoon met with reporters today at the team facility and said he still hasn't been cleared for team workouts more than four months after suffering a knee injury.
"I have been working nonstop with the training staff about four or five days a week doing whatever I can do to get my body feeling good so I can get back to where I'm feeling at top (speed)," Weatherspoon said. "I would say I'm feeling about 80 percent right now. I’m working hard and looking forward to getting back to 100 percent. I really don’t know my schedule."
Weatherspoon left Atlanta's 27-26 victory against the Redskins on Dec. 15 and didn't play in the final two games. Weatherspoon also missed seven games with a foot injury last season.
The Falcons selected Weatherspoon with the 19th overall selection in the 2010 draft. He's struggled with injuries during his career and now faces another offseason with questions about his health.
Weatherspoon's contract expires after next season.
"This year means everything for me," Weatherspoon said. "I think time will tell if I will be part of this organization for a few years or (2014) could be my last. I am looking forward to going out there and focusing on doing my job one play at a time. I just pray for a clean bill of health and I know everything will work out in my favor."
