FLOWERY BRANCH – Former Falcons linebacker Coy Wire of Fox Sports South received a Southeast Regional Emmy Award for his work as on-camera talent from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) Southeast Chapter on Saturday.

Wire, who played for the Falcons from 2008-10, has been working in broadcasting since he retired. He also played six seasons with the Buffalo Bills.

The awards recognize television excellence in Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, South Carolina, and Asheville, North Carolina.

“These EMMY Awards are a reflection of the outstanding work in programming and production executed by our talented and creative employees,” said Jeff Genthner, senior vice president and general manager of FOX Sports South and SportSouth. “We are truly honored to be recognized by our industry peers.”

Wire is a FOX college football analyst and appears weekly in studio on FOX Sports 1's pregame show, FOX College Saturday, and other programs.

He played football at Stanford, where he earned a sociology degree with a focus in philosophy and religion, before spending nine years in the NFL.

Wire is also an author, motivational speaker and sits on the board of directors for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

He resides in Atlanta with his wife and kids.
