Shake Shack has opened at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.

The burger eatery opened Tuesday on Concourse A near gate 28, and is operated by a joint venture of Atlanta-based Concessions International and H&H Hospitality.

Shake Shack started in New York and gained a cult following, then expanded to other locations around the country. A Shake Shack opened in Buckhead Atlanta in 2014, and at Perimeter Mall in 2016Another location is planned for the Eastside Beltline.

There are also Shake Shacks at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport in the Delta terminal and at Los Angeles International Airport.

Shake Shack called the Atlanta airport location “an important step in our travel venue growth,” according to a written statement from Shake Shack vice president of global licensing Michael Kark.

There is no alcohol served at the Hartsfield-Jackson location.

The idea for a Shake Shack at Hartsfield-Jackson was first proposed in 2015. But the airport contracting process went through delays, and was canceled and restarted. The deal was approved in 2016, nearly two years ago.
