A snowstorm expected in the Northeast on Monday afternoon could disrupt travelers returning home from Thanksgiving trips.

At Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, the Thanksgiving travel period has been busy, but relatively mild weather prevented operational issues.

However, a winter storm in the Midwest and Northeast already caused Delta Air Lines to cancel about 157 Delta Connection flights on Sunday.

Atlanta-based Delta is warning travelers that the winter weather in the Northeast could continue to disrupt travel. The airline is waiving certain change fees for those with flights booked Sunday or Monday to, from or through 22 cities in the Northeast who want to change their travel plans.

Other carriers including Southwest Airlines are also waiving certain charges for those who want to change their flights.

Airlines in snowy regions are de-icing planes, which can cause delays.
