Security lines at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport stretched through the terminal early Monday morning, with wait times of up to 45 to 60 minutes.

An airport spokesman attributed the lines to "excessive volume." The Atlanta airport expects nearly 75,000 passengers to pass through security checkpoints Monday.

But more crowds are also traveling due to school breaks and events over the weekend including a NASCAR race at Atlanta Motor Speedway, a national cheerleading tournament at the Georgia World Congress Center and a monster trucks event at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
