Atlanta-based Delta Air Lines' cargo unit is partnering with Roadie to launch door-to-door pick-up and delivery service for businesses to ship urgent parcels with same-day delivery.

Roadie, also based in Atlanta, has partnered with Delta to transport delayed baggage to passengers’ homes since 2015.

Delta says Roadie has also helped it to launch DASH Door-to-Door service in Atlanta on flights to more than 55 U.S. cities. The service is targeted at urgent shipments in industries such as medical, manufacturing, automotive and industrial parts. It's for packages less than 100 lbs and less than 90 linear inches, and shipping packages over 16 oz. requires TSA Known Shipper status.

The service has rates starting at around $99 including tariffs and fees but not government taxes, according to Delta.

Delta has long offered DASH small package, same-day express package service, and said the new door-to-door service uses TSA-approved drivers to pick up and deliver air cargo.

Delta’s director of cargo strategy and alliances Matt Weisenburg said with the Roadie partnership, “anyone who needs to get a small parcel somewhere urgently can now have a same-day delivery, door-to-door service in the U.S., without having to travel to the airport.”

The airline plans to expand the service to “dozens more cities” by the end of the year.
