Crowds of travelers began filling the airport early Friday morning as Memorial Day weekend trips begin.

Lines at Transportation Security Administration checkpoints began stretching into the domestic terminal atrium before 5 a.m. Friday, though wait times were under 30 minutes in the early morning period.

An estimated 83,500 passengers are expected to pass through TSA checkpoints at Hartsfield-Jackson on Friday.

TSA officials recommend travelers get to the airport two to three hours before their flight departs.
