May 27, 2016

Crowds of travelers began filling the airport early Friday morning as Memorial Day weekend trips begin.

Lines at Transportation Security Administration checkpoints began stretching into the domestic terminal atrium before 5 a.m. Friday, though wait times were under 30 minutes in the early morning period.

An estimated 83,500 passengers are expected to pass through TSA checkpoints at Hartsfield-Jackson on Friday.

TSA officials recommend travelers get to the airport two to three hours before their flight departs.
